Chess Rumble trailer !!
I used to work in the movie trailer biz, doing post production for many studios previews (The Abyss, Say Anything, Dances with Wolves). I've been dying to do a trailer for my first book and I finally convinced my old film school pal Debrah LeMattre to cut it. She nailed exactly what I wanted, something a little more evocative than a book trailer that follows the movie trailer formula. Hopefully, you'll dig the results:

If you like this, I'd highly recommend Debrah to any publisher who wants to do a book trailer (hopefully yours!). Check out her site! The original music is by Chris Hundley and Adrian Boeckeler.

So good. (I love the father's face, by the way. See just how easy it is for me to develop inappropriate crushes on older men?)

Oh, never mind then. "Unavailable" is one of my primary criteria.

Very nice, and the music works great with the images. Does a great job introducing the story and crisis. Hey, I didn't know you cut trailers in your Hollywood days! I teach a class at Calstate Fullerton where one of the main projects is a trailer as an entry for the Key Art Awards student competition (and my students have ROCKED! 12 noms and 4 of the top 3 awards in 6 years!!!). I've been talking to my colleagues about doing book trailers, so who knows what's next (they're excellent storytelling exercises for sure).

Sounds like a cool class. My thing about book trailers and the reason why 90% of them are badly done is that they are just mimicking movie trailers (and poorly at that) when they should be trying to invent a unique language for what a book trailer should be. So this trailer was a move in that direction...

Greg,
Your friend did such a great job! It will make children want to read the book! I could not view it from work email, so I finally remembered to forward it to home and watched it that way.
